171224 ARASHI “untitled” tour notes [Spoiler alert] - ARASHI

This is not a repo. This is my personal feeling towards the concert. I record it by my memory and with my interpretation so please do read it for leisure. Thanks.

- Staging and Lighting: This is the model for how staging and lighting could work. 100 thumbs up for MatsuJun. He said he was "bit confident" about the concert design in Enjoy before the concert, he was so so humble about this. This is far more than "bit confident". This is unbelievable. The staging and lighting was several levels higher than ARENA Tour, I have a feeling that every time MatsuJun reviews his works and improves and he enjoys this process so much. It must be a very beautiful scene to look at those magnificent lighting from the perspective of ARASHI. And the staging and lighting are not just beautiful. They help tell the stories of each song. And they don't overdo or underdo, they uplift the performance in a just-fine delicate degree, a delicacy you could imagine from MatsuJun. It's really a very great staging and lighting this time.

- Script between the songs: There are scripts in-between the songs to link them. Some of the scripts are lyrics of the songs in this album. The main theme of the scripts is people meeting people, people treasuring people, which is to me one of the main themes of ARASHI’s songs. Each member read out the script in a low, tender voice. There are some lines I can remember:
“There is timing for people meeting another”
“Dot and dot meet to form a line, and then they want to know more about each other”
“In the time we pass together, there are happy things, there are sad things, and in that, there is love”
“We are influenced by people around us, and no matter we are aware or not, we change”
“I see your dream. In it, you smile”
“Even this world comes to the end, I don’t want to lose you”

- Masaki Birthday before opening: While we were waiting, fans turned the penlights to green. First of all there were just scattered green, and then, gradually fans did it manually. It was tremendously tear-bursting because it was really very warm.

- Masaki Birthday MC: Sho-san brought up the penlight topic and MatsuJun said he was really touched. I was so happy that they liked this idea. Masaki was angel-like to say that some fans might do it to celebrate his birthday and it’s fine that they changed the colour back to their favourite members. He was so humble. And the talk went on with the colour change game that penlights changed to the colours of the member who was talking. This was so interesting. Sho-san wanted to take photo for four members and Nino called him to be in the photo too. Masaki-san gave X’mas gifts to Leader and Sho-san (Bazuri Night Tees) and Sho-san said Masaki-san was so nice, it was his birthday but he gave gifts to others. Sho-san asked Leader why he was so happy receiving the gift, Leader replied that he was so happy because the gift was precious that there are only three such tees in this world. They talked about that Sho-san and Nino rarely have birthday celebration in concerts. Leader said that perhaps next time they schedule the concert to be on 25th Jan.

- Masaki dance: Watching Masaki-san dance make me love him more and more. He dances to his full strength, such devotion is really touching and good-looking.

- ARASHI: Nino talked to Masaki-san during the song and Masaki-san was, as always, removed his earphone and bowed a bit to listen to Nino.

- Sakurap: Sakurap on live always reminds me the days of earrings and navel pierce.

- Kanata he: In the dark, not being filmed, Sakurai-san gave a deep bow to the fans on 2nd stand. At the end Sho-san stood at a position out of screen and Nino and Leader asked him to stand closer so he could be filmed, Sho-san apologised to them.

- Sakurai-san fan service: I watched this live twice, in one I sat at 2nd stand, in another I sat at 1st stand (and managed to get the tape), and I experienced the distinguished Sakurai-san’s fan service which really focus on the 2nd stand. He very frequently look at the 2nd stand and wave to us. I remembered that once he was already back to the main stage which was very far away from us, and he waved at 2nd stand, and our block waved our penlights crazily to respond him. He was about to put down his hand, but when he saw us wave so hard he waved at us for few more seconds, seemingly that he noticed that we were responding him. When they were in the moving car, he almost looked at the 2nd stand all the time. This is so warm, really.

- Nino: Nino sang very very sexily in this concert. He has a great reserve of variety of way of singing. So enjoyable listening to his various ways of singing.

Every time I say I look forward to the DVD so much. This time is no exception. They are progressing. What would ARASHI be in 19 years old, 20 years old, 21st years old... Things change but there is one thing that would never change, their core and their "you are my soul". I am so touched by this progress-but-not-change balance. I didn’t scream much in this concert, but I clapped a lot. I held my breath in many songs including the unit songs and “Song For You”.

Thanks ARASHI for such a great show. Wish everything goes fine with no one hurt and everyone enjoys the show. Thanks soul soul much.

[About going back family home]
A: This year, I only went back my family home one time. How many times did you all go back your family homes?
O: Around three times.
M: Stayed one night?
O: Stayed one night. I read the mangas which I have read in the past.
A: On the contrary I haven’t stayed in my family home for around 10 years. Though it isn’t about embarrassing or not.
M: I understand that feeling. It feels like not my place (because they have moved out and have their own homes).
A: Right right.
S: I haven’t been back my family home not even once this year.
A: Eh~?!
S: But, we dine together around once every month.
A: Including siblings?
S: All cast.
A: All cast (giggle).

[About MJ not so skillful]
A: Unexpectedly (MJ) is sometimes not so skillful, isn’t it?
N: Yes yes. Unexpectedly he needs practice. While to us, the dough is already made round, to J, this process won’t end unless the dough is round to J’s standard.
M: Really, as members said, I am not so skillful to do so many things; during location filming, I am asked to do various things.
A: You want to tell staff about this.
M: Yes yes. I really want to tell staff: I am not such a skillful person. Well frankly saying let me say this, only here.
N: Sure sure.

Q1: What did you eat frequently in 2017?
A: Curry and stew.

Q2: What did you drink frequently in 2017?
A: Water.

Q3: What do you buy unconsciously at supermarket?
A: Green onion sprouts.

Q4: What touched you most in 2017?
A: I was touched by receiving a letter from Inohara (Yoshihiko)-kun several days after I appeared in “Asaichi”.

Q5: What thing was tough in 2017?
A: I did not stop coughing at the beginning of the year, I thought that I was ill and it turned out to be dry. I got cured after using humidifier.

Q6: What is your favourite recently?
A: I buy a lot octopus. I serve it with delicious sashimi sauce.

Q7: What is your source of energy?
A: The time I spend alone. I browse the fishing equipment and watch fishing videos and have a drink, such time is the most fortunate.

Q8: What make you relax?
A: When I go shopping at supermarket. I got excited when holding the basket. This year I made a lot curry and stew in my own style. I don’t really dislike cutting the onions and tearing myself (giggle).

Q9: What is your favourite interior?
A: Artificial green-leaf plants.

Q10: What do you do in off-duty days?
A: Recently I did nothing but staying in bed rolling all~ along.

Q11: If you have one month break?
A: I’ll go overseas where I can do fishing.

A: Summer. I am not good at winter… Though I am told to wear more if it’s cold, that’s not really so.

A: Time that I can pass alone.

A: Ramen, fried rice. I am not good at stylish food like French cuisine because I am not in the mood of having them. Because it’s the last supper I want to have food I’m used to. Rice with egg is good too.

A: If there is thing I am concerned about I’ve already dealt with it, so there is nothing I’m concerned about (giggle).

Q16: What person you couldn’t forget?
A: Shinjo (Tsuyoshi)-san. He appeared as guest in Jan VS ARASHI (120103). He came from Bali to appear in the programme and then he left saying “I have no time so I need to go”. I felt that “it’s interesting”, “he’s free-flow”.

Q17: What makes you have the awareness that you are in a unit?
A: I am encouraged by the sense of relief that I am not alone.

Q18: Wording that influenced you?
A: During my debut my good friend told me “It’s better not to compare with others but to compare with yesterday’s yourself”. I remember that I thought “Ah, I am what I am, just be myself would be fine”.

Q19: If God says to you “I can make your one wish come true”?
A: Take me to fishing.

Q20: What would you do in the morning of 1st Jan?
A: Every year I appear in Count Down live, somehow it’s morning when I go back home. From then I drink beer, I drink Japanese wine, and take one sleep and then wake up after morning and continue drinking. I browse and listen to New Year music on my mobile, and go to the shop of my good friend and drink Japanese wine with little New Year food and that’s a great day! (giggle).

Q21: The greatest new year thus far?
A: Around four years ago, I had my first-time overseas journey with my family.

Q22: Do you wear new clothes in New Year?
A: Not at all concerned about it.

Q23: Senpai you met a lot this year?
A: I went to Matsu-ni (Matsuoka Masahiro)’s birthday party.

Q24: Kouhai you met a lot this year?
A: Chinen Yuri.

A: Somehow he was like having movie filming all the time.

A: We had various personal works in the first half year. There was lots of acting.

A: I want warm clothes to wear during sleep. Clothes with good textile. I still wear summer clothes so it’s cold at night.

A: Nothing (answer immediately).

Q6: What thing was tough in 2017?
A: Nothing. I forget it if any.

Q7: What thing are you obsessed with recently?
A: Manga “Kuubo ibuki”. And game.

A: Time to have a drink with friends.

Q9: What make you relax?
A: The bed of my home. As for the mornings of this period of time, can’t really get out of the bed (bitter smile).

Q10: What is your favourite interior?
A: The photo “SEASCAPES” of Sugimoto Hiroshi-san, an artist I respect.

A: Thing I think I have to do is to arrange my letters and parcels. I hope to finish this task before New Year.

A: Whether it should be long or short, it is a long break (giggle). Of course, I’ll go overseas, where should I go, I want to go to Central and South America.

A: Winter or spring. In winter the air feels a bit tense, while the weather is good and bit warm the feeling is good.

Q14: What would you have in your last supper?
A: The seafood risotto in tomato soup which I ate in a restaurant near my Grandparents’ home.

Q15: What is your most prominent strength?
A: I type on mobile quickly. Though it’s useless (bitter smile).

Q16: Person impressive to you?
A: Aoi Yu-chan and Tabe Mikako-chan. I am happy that we could work together again since tens of year. Because we worked hard throughout these years we can work together again.

Q17: Backstage story of Kouhaku that you could tell us now?
A: Once, around 15 mins before the opening I wanted to go to washroom. I dressed in crested kimono and hakama so I was nervous whether I should endure it for four hours or give up and go to washroom. At last I chose to go to washroom and removed the formal wear and then put them on again afterwards. Because of this, during the opening I was full of sweat. But I thought it was good that I went washroom (giggle).

Q18: Wording that influenced you?
A: Freedom is with responsibility.

Q19: If God says to you “I can make your one wish come true”?
A: Please give me a year of rest time.

Q20: What would you do in the morning of 1st Jan?
A: I’ll pay my first visit to shrine with other Johnny’s, then go home, re-watch Kouhaku, and sleep at around six or seven o’clock. And then spend the time with my family.

Q21: The greatest new year thus far?
A: I went to India around 10 years ago. I said to my friend “There should be lots of artists and reporters at the airport on the first day of New Year, right?”, but when I was at the gate towards India there was nobody there (giggle). I very much looked forward to it but there was nobody there. What’s more it was great that New Year seemed have no particular meaning in India calendar, people there just passed the day commonly. This was somehow great.

Q22: Senpai you met a lot this year?
A: Okada (Junichi)-kun.

Q23: Kouhai you met a lot this year?
A: Should be Kikuchi (Fuma).

Q24: Recently, which member was talked about during family talk?
A: Nino’s Kouhaku Host.

Q25: What was Ninomiya-san in 2017.
A: He played games a lot. Really he has been holding the pen to play games on smartphone all the time. I feel like seeing pen and smartphone and Nino all the time.

Q26: What was Matsumoto-san in 2017.
A: Should be concert. Even after we are off duty, until morning he was in work meeting, indeed he is splendid. Even for things we cannot notice, he is watchful to them.

Q27: What was Aiba-san in 2017.
A: I had appeared in “Shimura Doubutsuen”, I saw him different from when he was with ARASHI. He looked tenderer and warmer in that programme.
