This drama is created to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the naming of Hokkaido. Speaking on the contrary, I think that it depicted the things 150 years ago and the history of the people actually living 150 years ago in a drama form. It is my great honour to be able to act Matsuura-san in this drama.
When I and the staff talked about this drama, because it was my first time to act a genuine samurai, I very much worried if I, having had no such experience, was able to act Matsuura Takeshiro-san, furthermore as the leading actor, well. The trigger of letting me act this drama was that the staff talked with enthusiasm about Matsuura Takeshiro-san as well as their passionate thoughts towards this drama. They showed me various materials about this story, when I read the materials, I thought that I would regret had I not worked on this drama ... Rather than nervousness, I had a stronger feeling to work on this drama.
When Matsuura-san was in about the same age as I am now, he worried about our country, thought about he had to do something and what he could do, and went to Hokkaido, and investigated the topography place by place ... I worked to my best to act him in a wish to express his passionate thoughts.
I hope that when you watch this drama, you would see the splendid culture of Ainu people and feel the significance of Hokkaido.
