Q: This year Ninomiya-san works as host alone, is the way of approach different?
S: Is it different? Is it different working as host alone?
N: I haven’t felt so at this moment, but I feel that this finally starts after we did the read-out checking today.
Q: What about the other members?
S: Last year, Aiba worked as the host alone so this is the second time our member works as host alone.
Q: What does Aiba-kun think?
A: The burden on my shoulders is down. Frankly saying (giggle).
S: But the White Team lost last year.
A: Right. Though I wanted to hold the victory flag.
Q: I thought you would have held it.
A: Right! Is it so!? Looking at the votes of viewers only, I was puzzled like “Oh?” (giggle).
Q: But earlier, Ninomiya-san said that the secret to win is the “way of voting”.
N: Right right.
M: The way of counting votes is changed, isn’t it?
N: It changes this year.
A: Well~, I hope we would win this year.
Q: Ohno-kun was surprised last year.
O: I was surprised. I was standing behind to stand by to get the victory flag.
A: Was it strange too? Because it should have been me who held it (giggle).
Q: This year too?
O: I’m aiming for it this year (giggle).
M: I shall stop this by all means.
Q: It should be the host who holds it.
N: That’s right. I shall hold it because I want to hold it.
Q: Excuse me, but what do you think about performing at Kouhaku like this at the year-end this year?
S: We are happy. We have talked about this when we came here, it’s the New Year’s Eve, the last day of the year, we are happy to be able to perform in this programme like this as a reward to our activities in this year.
Q: The feeling becomes tightened.
S: It is tightened, because this is the programme to conclude this year. In fact after Kouhaku there is also Johnny’s Countdown live, but when you come to the NHK Hall.
A: There is also sense of nervousness.
Q: Looking back what sort of year was this year, each of you please conclude your thoughts in one Kanji?
M: Each of you? Do you want us to talk about this one by one?
Q: You haven’t done this yet this year, right?
M: Not yet.
Q: As ARASHI what Kanji do you choose?
S: “Wa” (和) of “Peace” (平和). This year we did event with Sexy Zone, now we are in the midst of our tour live so there is lots of time that we five are together, and more than anything else, this is “Kazu” (和) of Ninomiya Kazunari-sensei, so as ARASHI I think we would choose this Kanji.
N: Thanks for such wonderful summary (bow).
Q: Then there is no Kanji from each of you?
N: To go beyond this…
M: To go beyond this… (To Aiba) Do you have any idea?
Q: Then Aiba-san, if you think of any good Kanji!
A: If any Kanji is good (giggle)?
Q: Kanji for your own.
A: Is it fine if I talk about my own? This year I was able to climb the Mt. Fuji for the first time, I have been saying I wanted to climb, I wanted to climb all the time, and this year I managed to do this, so I’ll choose “mountain”.
N: Not “climb” but “mountain”.
S: So you choose the object? It’s not the process (giggle).
A: It’s better not to say (giggle).
Q: It’s good to hear this.
M: Indeed “Wa” (和) is better. “Kazu” (和) is better.
Q: Aiba-san, is it fine to use “Kazu”?
A: It’s fine.
Q: Is there anything left to do this year?
N: I’ve already done all things.
Q: I see (giggle).
N: It’s better to complete the works now. I think the vector is over there.
S: Just like past years, now we are in the midst of our tour, from around the beginning of this autumn we all have been together. I really watch members on TV a lot, while above that there was also lots of time we five were together.
Q: Could you tell me, within the scope that can be told, what sort of direction you would do on the Kouhaku stage?
M: This time we shall perform with around 180 dancers, we shall form a circle together, this is rather … vigorous.
Q: Vigorous?
A: It feels like combing analog and high-tech.
S: The state-of-art technology.
Q: Is it also the direction of Matsumoto-san?
M: No no. This is NHK-san who decided the songs and then we make it to a medley. It is planned to make full use of analog manpower and digital technology. We also have not rehearsed yet so we have not seen it directly. But it seems interesting. Please look forward to it!
