
ARASHI x Pazudora new TV-CM will use the coupling song “NOW or NEVER” of single “Doors~Yuuki no Kiseki~”!
■ About the TV-CM
National smartphone game pioneer “Pazudora” which opened a new ground to the game industry, and national idol ARASHI who is continuously enhancing, their collaboration CM got good comments from many people since OA from June 2014.
In the new TV-CM “Pazudora Dance”, surprisingly to ARASHI as well, they challenged five-people main dance for the first time in commercial CM. The members gave the coolest performance with the light melody of “NOW or NEVER” (release on 8 November) which is the coupling song of new single “Doors~Yuuki no Kiseki”. Together with the impressive choreography based on Pazudora’s drop operation and drop movement as motif, the colours of the colourful back dancers who dance on the grid set also change to red and blue like puzzle. The most eye-catching point is ARASHI’s “Pazudora dance” filmed in one cut. Please pay attention to this impressive new CM which ARASHI dances gorgeously in perfect match in studio filled with tense atmosphere.
■ CM Story (30s)
ARASHI who stand in studio in monotone tailcoats. Matching the melody of new song “NOW or NEVER”, they dance Pazudora dance. The background is white square boxes in row, with the back dancers with red cloth on front side and blue cloth on back side, responding to the finger movement of ARASHI members, the colours change gradually. At the end of the dance, from the top of the frame, suddenly, “Pazudora” drops drop one after another. At last they turned around, Ninomiya-san spoke “I like Pazudora!” with his signature pose, along with this and ARASHI’s appearance, “Pazudora” logo and smartphone’s display cut were shown.
■ Filming episode
◇ One-cut dance scene filled with perfect choreography
The dance scene was one-cut film that if one member made mistake the filming had to start all over again, in the tense atmosphere, the filming started with the cue of Ninomiya-san’s “So, let’s go!”. The five members who became more concentrated because of the nervousness in good sense watched the test playback together, understood the various points to adjust, gave a nearly perfect dance in the first take of official filming. They completed the unique choreography which took the drop movement of “Pazudora” as motif and the action connecting back dancers without difficulty, the filming site was excited tremendously by this.
◇ Pursuit of cool visuals aiming at very close distance
The dance scene was that members crossed each other and switched their positions, the close the distance between each other, the more apparent would the impact be, ARASHI, the members of which dancing together all the time, danced aiming at the threshold distance that one can’t tell if they would clash each other or not. On such fine-line action, Sakurai-san said joyfully “everyone is aggressive surprisingly (giggle)”. Sensing the response, aiming at higher goal, they chased for high level performance in a sense of unity.
◇ Members were warm to Ninomiya-san’s passionate thought
The last scene was that in a position of facing backward all members turned back and had their last pose. There only Ninomiya-san had a script line, during the break of setting, he had practice with other members. “Pazudora” heavy user Ninomiya-san said the script line “I like Pazudora!” was unimaginably convincing during practice, Sakurai-san and Aiba-san who felt such strong aura in front of them smiled unconsciously. In a completely increased tension, “(This script line) is cool, isn’t it?” Ninomiya-san asked innocently, Ohno-san and Matsumoto-san who were standing a few distance away also smiled while looking at him.
◇ Choreography of “Pazudora dance” composed by popular French duo
The choreography this time was composed by French duo “I COULD NEVER BE A DANCER” who, based in Paris, is active in the world, and had representative work TV-CM “Cheers” (2016) of Pocari Sweat of Otsuka Pharmaceutical. According to Olivier-shi of the duo, “The concept is index finger and smartphone, to use dance to express the movement of “Pazudora”. Responding to the movement of the five members, the back dancers’ colours change, and the I took reference of the movement when the drops of “Pazudora” disappeared for the design of dancing”. They worked with ARASHI for the first time, when they met face to face during rehearsal, he had a feeling that ARASHI “was a group which would increase its shine in a moment once the camera starts filming”, such feeling was convinced during official filming, “they didn’t just remember the choreography fast, they immediately turned the choreography to their own things. They are very professional!”, he was astonished by the overwhelmingly groove feeling of the five members.
◇ Motion control filming to produce advanced visual expression
The main dance scene, matching the music, was filmed by motion control camera which could show the same camera work repeatedly. This time, from the very beginning to the very end the whole filming was done by one cut, the movement and speed of manual camera, and having the same focus each time was very difficult, from the intro to the chorus, the timing was programmed into computer in advance, so that it was possible to produce the advanced visuals which the director imagined.
■ “ARASHI” Interview
―― What do you think about the CM filming which is done in almost one cut?
A: Indeed it’s nervous to film one cut. If one makes mistake once the filming has to start all over again, this will cause trouble to not only other members but also the back dancer-san who dance at the back.
S: The previous CM was one cut, right?
N: Right right, it was one cut.
O: The filming of Pazudora is interesting every time, this time we try thing out of our imagination.
―― What is the difficult thing during the dance?
M: The choreography resembles the image of Pazudora, the tempo is fast, so where to move the fingers, it’s difficult for everyone to match.
N: The tempo was fast.
S: When we saw the demo video there was quite some distance between members, but when we actually danced the distance was close, sometimes it was about to hit the member beside me. It was difficult to grasp the balance and the sense of distance.
N: Until we get used to it. (giggle)
S: But, including our Jr. time, we have been together for around 20 years, we were really skillful about this. (giggle)
N: Ah, you said that we did it skillfully. I thought that you’d say it was difficult (giggle).
M: But, for once (Sakurai-san) hit me in great vigour. (giggle)
―― Please tell us the points of the dance this time.
A: To move the drops with our fingers, the choreography tapping smartphone, I think this is point which everyone can imitate.
S: But, though we managed to dance this time, it took time to remember, it may not be easy for others to imitate the dance.
A: No no, why are you becoming so strict suddenly? (giggle)
M: If people remember the dance they would be happy.
A: Right right.
―― Please tell us the ARASHI’s new song arranged to be used in the CM.
S: To be used in this CM, part of the lyrics was changed. There is a word “battle” in the CM, while the version in the CD used another word.
N: It’s bit new to us.
S: It may be the first time for us.
O: Right. It hasn’t been such case thus far.
N: Our lyrics has not be changed for such circumstance, right?
S: During the recording, did you feel surprised? We were told that this lyrics was for CM use.
N: Ah, right, something like that. But, as for the song, the writer composed a song that suits the CM.
S: The tempo is fast, I mean the vigour, I think this is a song with sense of speeding.
