The corner was about “first-time declaration”. Sho-san’s manager said that Sho-san “was seriously trying to win a bear” that this summer when Sho-san read news he said “If I were as strong as V6’s Okada-kun I could win a bear”.

Sho-san explained that it was different from what he understood about what he said. He watched the news about human being winning bear and he thought that it was splendid and was touched by it. And he wondered how a human being could win a bear and if there is anyone in Johnny’s who could win a bear it’d probably be Okada senpai who was strong. He didn’t think that he himself could win a bear.

Sakurai-san went to Papua New Guinea for coverage of war in 2015. It was found that his grandfather Sakurai Mitsuo-san who, as former Jomo Shinbun reporter, did coverage in the same place 48 years ago (Year 1969) on recovering the remains of soldiers. Sakurai-san said that it was out of his imagination, he did not know it at all, his grandfather did not mention it at all.

Colleagues of Sakurai Mitsuo-san were interviewed. They said that Sakurai Mitsuo-san was handsome, had lots of female fans, was a person who took care of staff, practiced Judo during high school days, was good at writing and had knowledge and conscience.

During the Pacific War, Gunma Prefecture lost ten thousand soldiers. On this, Sho-san said "To the soldiers of Gunma Prefecture, after 70 years, I can make such greetings, I feel an unimaginable fate."

Sakurai Mitsuo-san recorded his experience in Papua New Guinea:
“On the bedrock there stuck some pieces of human remains.
I tried to use my fingers to move them upwards, but they did not budge an inch.
‘We have been waiting like this’, they seemed to be stating.”
“In the grass there was a skull. It was turning around like a mushroom.
The vacant holes of his two eyes, like sounding off about something, were looking upwards.”

Apart from coverage, Sakurai Mitsuo-san brought along a letter from a lady to his elder brother who died in the war. The lady asked him to bury the letter at the site of remains.

By reporting the war, the thoughts of Sakurai Mitsuo-san and Sakurai Sho-san overlapped.

The brother of Sakurai Mitsuo-san died in a naval battle, Sakurai Mitsuo-san died in April 2006, half year later, Sakurai-san became Caster of NEWS ZERO.

How should we who live in an era with no war live? To the generation which does not know war, Sakurai Mitsuo-san wrote a book titled “Monyo”.

Excerpts of Sakurai Mitsuo-san's coverage / book:
"In exchange of lives of flesh and blood, peace over these 40 years here, what is its meaning to my life?
The “way of living” from the moment of that grace, I thought that this is the way to reward the spirits."
“‘Life is the pattern drawn by each of our own’, some people say.
As a result of war, such pattern was not drawn and was scattered.
To convey my thought to the negligence of many youngsters,
I wrote a book about the pattern of myself who lived through the peace time.
I hope this would be a pattern that is good for reading."

Sakurai-san commented that there is one thing he wanted to convey through this VTR. He was not able to ask his grandfather about his coverage (when his grandfather was alive). If the audience has grandfather, grandmother, great-grandfather, or great-mother who is alive, (it would be good to) just make a declaration.

[Curry and Monja]
- At start Masaki-san said that the studio was full of curry smell (he brought curry soumen to studio, Chika-san tasted it).
- Masaki-san didn’t eat curry soumen (fine noodles) recently but ate a lot in the past.
- The way he ate curry was in the first day, he made curry rice, in the second day, there was no rice, then he made curry soumen, it was like tsukemen (noodles with dipping sauce). It was very delicious. It was the best taste in summer.
- Recently Masaki-san didn’t make curry, he is indulged in making monja (Japanese pan-fried batter). He bought the iron plate with portable gas stove. The monja he made included ingredients of pork, cabbage, mentaiko, mochi, he also put in cheese. It was delicious. But it should be careful not to eat too much because mentaiko is fish egg. Then he added curry powder into the monja.

[Pair getting married]
- A mail said that the male and female working together such as vocal and guitarist in a band or MC of programme and assistant are likely to get married. Masaki-san said that when he watched ice skate show, the pair skaters were likely to marry, when he knew that the pair skaters got married he was surprised.

[Warau Seerusuman]
- When Masaki-san was small he learned a lot from Warau Seerusuman (The Laughing Salesman). The characters did something they shouldn’t do and then their lives fell, until they fell they were living a good life. (The Laughing Salesman) pulled them out from the bottom one time, though they could live a good life then they went haywire and they fell again. Every time it was the same. He said let’s live our lives seriously (decently).

[Cleaning bathroom]
- A mail asking Masaki-san if “trivial such as cleaning the bathroom is left for servants” (neta of Kizoku Tantei). Masaki-san giggled “ha~ha” in kawaii way after listening to this.
- Masaki-san followed the neta that agreement with the servants ended, he cleans the bathroom himself.
- When he is going to take a bath, he washes the bathtub properly then put hot water in. When he finishes shower, he does not clean the bathtub because he takes shower fast.
- When he comes out of bathtub he drains all the water out. When there is water there will be mould, though it is inevitable to have mould, it is better to drain the water out.
- (When one lives alone and needs to clean bathroom) it’s good to clean it before taking a bath, then drain the water after the bath. Then (the cleaning work) will be easier.

[Masaki-san’s Best Three Chinese cuisine]
- 3rd: Stir-fried liver and Chinese chives.
- 2nd: Spring roll (Masaki-san said he has lots of favourites and it’s difficult to choose)
- 1st: Gyoza. It should be gyoza, right?
- With them Masaki-san can survive one month.
- Masaki-san likes gyoza no matter it’s made by his father or others.
- Masaki-san eats Gyoza with rice.
- Masaki-san dips gyoza with one sauce only, gradually he puts in more vinegar and chili oil when he grew up.

The choir is formed by various schools of Okuma Town of Fukushima, many places now being difficult-to-return zone. In mid August, Sho-san visited one school and this plan came up. When Sho-san asked the students what “furusato” (hometown) means to them, a student asked “I think about where is my hometown, whether it’s my local (Fukushima) or the place I am on evacuation now.”

Sho-san interviewed the high school students. Please refer to Winkychan’s sub earlier about this: 17.08.21 NZ http://arashitranslation.dreamwidth.org/98461.html. Sho-san asked another student what remains in his memory, he said that he thought he remembered, but actually he forgot (about his hometown). When they were on evacuation they were just primary school grade three students.

One student Koki-kun planned to return to his home in Okuma for a temporary period to take a visit. His elder brother and mother accompanied him for the visit.

According to a survey to residents of Okuma Town, 63.5% will not return to Okuma, 11.4% want to return, 17.3% not decided, 7.8% not yet decided.

Sho-san went to Okuma four years ago, he visited the library (also shown in 17.08.21 NZ) and saw the miserable scenery of a place with human’s temperature. When Koki-kun and his family went back to Okuma Town, they saw things broken, they saw the current scenery of Okuma, Koki-kun’s mother said it’s lonely, Koki-kun said things changed, and it was out of his expectation, and he felt uneasy.

On the other hand, Sho-san visited the “Old man team” who formed in 2013 with a hope to work on Okuma so that people will come back one day (reported in 17.08.21 NZ). Suzuki-san said that there are more and more people not planning to come back to Okuma, they made a board on the green slope with the words “Let’s Come Back”.

Sakurai-san interviewed another student Okada-kun, who evacuated to a place outside Fukushima. There she was discriminated and bullied with the stigma of radioactivity. She did not tell this to her mother because her mother was having a tough time taking care of her younger brother. She managed to declare this past incident because she returned to Fukushima which welcomed her.

The programme proceeded to Koki-kun’s family returning to their house in Okuma. When they reached the house they thought the house was small, actually it was because they grew up. The brothers found the old things, toys, they felt nostalgic.

The brothers took photos everywhere, and they asked if they can walk on the road, then they ran on the road. Their mother said “though they grow so big now they look like little kids.”

There was coverage on Aida couple who continued planting sakura in Okuma, and on Ishii-san who runs a dining hall in a village once the evacuation order there was lifted.

Then they performed "Furusato" in Budoukan.

After the performance, Sho-san commented that not only Fukushima, many people think about where their hometown is, it is good to have such a time for people to think of their hometown. Koki-kun said that he was glad to be able to express his gratitude towards the people working hard in Fukushima via the singing. Takahashi-san (another student) said that though some may think Fukushima is dangerous, they have tried to convey to people that Fukushima is a splendid place.

Aida-san who came to Budokan to watch the performance commented that the current return rate is only around 5%, in the future it would be a big challenge to make a goal of people coming back.

48 years ago, my grandfather conveyed his thought. And then 46 years after that, I conveyed mine. To be able to understand the thought (of my grandfather) towards what he wanted to convey at that time, now, I feel fate in it. However, there are lots of things that somehow I am not able to convey.

I think there are lots of people to whom my thoughts do not deliver. However, there are things that only I can convey, there are people to whom only I can deliver (my thoughts). Even it sounds too proud, with such belief, I want to continue conveying my thoughts.

Knowing the past becomes a deterrent. Knowing “now” pushes us from behind. Therefore, I shall convey. Only by knowing the past and “now” can seeds to the future be sowed.
