ARASHI performed last finale for the first-time at the 67th Kouhaku Uta Gassen (31 Dec at NHK hall), it is their eighth-time appearance on this stage. The last finale was titled “ARASHI x Kouhaku Special Medley”, with their debut song “A・RA・SHI” (1999), Happiness (2007), and “One Love” (2008).
Before the performance all members expressed their messages towards the coming year. “In this year’s end, let’s welcome the coming year together with smile” (Sakurai Sho), “In whatever moments, if you step forward, you’ll surely see the shining light” (Ninomiya Kazunari), “I shall sing to my utmost with the wish that hope and dream will rest in audience’s heart, even I may only contribute a little” (Ohno Satoshi), “May 2017 be a splendid year and your dreams will come true” (Matsumoto Jun).
Aiba Masaki who played the big role as White Team Host said “Thanks to the power of the splendid songs by every performer, I managed to be host thus far. Dream is something absolutely indispensable for people to live on. We ARASHI five people, hope to deliver dream to everyone with our songs, and let this dream be your strength for tomorrow”. During the singing he burst into tears, made a triumph pose with sense of fulfillment, and bowed deeply after singing.
