Aiba Masaki’s Resolution
There is my name at the beginning of the drama
In order not to regret I shall work on it earnestly
This interview was conducted several days after the crank in of drama. Aiba-san said he had the filming that after one day of work, he had sense of fulfillment and sense of tiredness interweaving that couldn’t be conveyed by words. There was hard time. He invested a lot of time thinking about creation of the character. Of course there was rehearsal before filming, but he kept thinking about things such as that was not quite right, I had to act like that, it would be great acting like that, what needed a retake…
The reporter said that Director also found it difficult to create characters and several days after crank in, all scenes were re-taken. In regard to this, Aiba-san said that Director changed the direction of the characters bit by bit. At first he thought that he would act the so-called “Kizoku” and acted the same way until the last episode. But then he was explained to act “among Kizoku the character was a bit novel Kizoku”… there was change bit by bit.
The reporter said that filming this drama, Aiba-san experienced hard time not experienced thus far while there was also sense of fulfillment. Aiba-san said that the filming was like stage performance’s exercise. They had one take and then it was OK. There was barely retake. He felt love in such filming. If there was no love in the crew they wouldn’t film like “Yes, isn’t it great?” “wouldn’t it be great from next scene?”. The feeling of doing something in worry was tough but the process itself was joyful.
The reporter pointed out that Getsuku was equivalent to drama, but recently the view rate continued to be low. The reporter said that Aiba-san was a leading role with heavy burden / responsibility. In regard to this, Aiba-san said that though he didn’t know how the view rate of this drama would be, if he does the filming to his utmost he would not regret. As long as he created a convincing character that would be fine. This drama is with so many great casts, his name appears at the beginning of it, having had to think about this, he well took the responsibility, in order not to regret he could but to do it earnestly.
The reporter said that people would want to escape when things get stuck, but Aiba-san is not this type of person. Aiba-san responded that even he was not having good time [in filming] he would not get distracted. Until the good time comes he would think about the acting all along. Whether he is doing something else or when he was having meals, he would thing about [how to act better]. He thinks he should not go filming with no preparation, so as much as possible he wants to think about various possibilities.
Talking about his stress, Aiba-san said that Yoshimura Takashi-san of Heisei Nobushi Kobushi had asked him whether he had fun [working on various programmes] because he had no free time. Aiba-san said that this is not like that. Though he indeed has not much time to take rest, in the filming sites he has connection with other people, including staff and co-acts, he is surrounded by people he likes. Though there is lot of worry in regard to acting “Kizoku Tantei”, basically there is no “Aiba Masaki’s worry”.
Talking about how to refresh in such busy days, Aiba-san said that during 2-3 hours of break he exercised the choreography of the new song, and then if there is free time he would go to outlet to do a lot of shopping, buying a lot of super~ cheap training ware (giggle), and he also takes rest for his body. Taking rest is also part of work, because if he gets sick such as influenza this would bother others and he does not want to bother others. So when it is rest days, take rest. When it is time to care [about body], care about it. He further said that he was no long young so he concerns about [health].
Asked about Kouhaku host work, Aiba-san said that it was really four and a half hours with vigour. He felt it was like eight hours which was fold of actual time passed. He felt a great of responsibility for all the time from introduction until the performance started. At last, when performing ARASHI’s songs “Already it’s fine not introducing these songs” and the sense of relaxation just popped up~ This was a rare opportunity like once in life, he really had a very good experience. When he completed the work and got calm he thought that this was really great. Such experience cannot be replaced by any other experience. While for Getsuku too, while his name appears at the beginning of Getsuku brings lot of pressure, such experience can barely be experienced. By continuing doing it, it would become a great experience.
Aiba-san concluded that “how you live would determine how your future will turn to”. He thinks it great to, in order not to regret, try his very best [to do everything]. And this drama too. He would feel happy if he works [hard] on it and people, even one more person, would have much fun watching it.
As for the new song, Aiba-san said with lots of confidence that it is a stylish song. He himself found this song fresh, and though this song is not “jazzy”, the aura was a bit like that, it would be put in the stylish category in ARASHI’s songs, and it matches the drama very well. The choreography is also chic and with mature feeling.
