The entertainment business Oricon, including service of music information, released its regular "Favourite Artist Ranking Voted by 20,000 Music Fans 2016" on 14 November 2016. The ranking started in 2004 and is in its 13th year, in this ranking, popular five-person idol group "Arashi" won the overall 1st with a wide range of support regardless of age and gender. Arashi updated the record by winning the 1st since 2010 for consecutively seven years.
◆ The "power of team of five people" and performance gained favourable comments, Matsumoto Jun "Thanks for all people supporting us"
Arashi travelled around for "ARASHI"Japonism Show"in ARENA" in arena-class venues this year, and recently their dome tour started. Arashi has released singles "Fukkatsu LOVE" (復活LOVE) and "I seek／Daylight", their album "Are You Happy?"** reached the highest first-week sale record of this year, of course they are active in variety shows and TV drama, and constantly participated in music activities. "I am touched by their lives which are the greatest performance, I never get tired of it" (Kanagawa / 10s Female), "The performance of these five people has a sense of coherence" (Tokyo / 20s Male), "Their songs, dance, and performance are great. They can handle various genres of songs" (Saitama / 30s Female), it seems that there are increasing favourable comments towards their lives and music.
Apart from "overall ranking", Arashi also won the 1st in "10s ranking" and "20s ranking", in particular from the young generation many of whom support them, of course there were comments about the good relationship between members like "They are in good relationship, all the members are shining" (Chiba / 20s Female), there were also many comments about their charisma such as "The atmosphere, the way and attitude they consider things, just by watching them will make me smile" (Aichi / 10s Female), "Their attitude towards their work is respectful" (Chiba / 20s Female).
In regard to this ranking result, member Matsumoto Jun addressed his gratitude "We are voted [as Favourite Artist] this year as well, I am thankful to all people supporting us regularly. I am happy to receive many comments saying that we are in good relationship, and the characters of us five are good. While, I am very happy to see the favourable comments towards our concerts and performances". With regard to the activities in 2016, he recalled "This year we did arena tour, we five people had much more time to be together than usual. I also starred in TV drama, I think this year is very fruitful for both group activities and personal work", and there is also high expectation towards the continuity of their fruitful activities and their activeness in the coming year.

Matsumoto Jun: We are voted [as Favourite Artist] this year as well, I am thankful to all people supporting us regularly.
――Reading the comments of the users, is there anything that draws your attention?
Matsumoto Jun: I am happy to read many comments saying that we are in good relationship, and the characters of us five are good. While, I am very happy to see the favourable comments towards our concerts and performances.
――Speaking of concert, Matsumoto-san is responsible for the performance [planning]. From last year to this year, there were two breakthrough tours "TOUR 2015 Japonism" and "Japonism Show", what do you think about this?
Matsumoto Jun: The road we have got through, although we were not reviewing it, by looking back we found that we are in an interesting world, we members are in the same generation, we have common understanding [towards this world], and we have grown up watching the same things.
――Including stage works like "Japonism Show" and "Arashi's WakuWaku School", there were various performance released, and you have starred in TV drama, in 2016 Arashi had many opportunities to work actively too.
Matsumoto Jun: This year we did arena tour, we five people had much more time to be together than usual. I also starred in TV drama, I think this year is very fruitful for both group activities and personal work.
――The album "Are You Happy?" was released on 26 October 2016, the momentum of Arashi does not stop in the latter half of 2016 too. What kind of work is this album?
Matsumoto Jun: The two previous albums in particular were made based on very clear concepts, this time we make an album that does not look big but with rich variety. In that sense this is a new challenge *Giggle*.
――The dome tour started from mid-November. Winning this ranking, I think there are many listeners looking forward to the lives.
Matsumoto Jun: From last year we have increased number of performance, it would be great if we could have happy moments with lots of people. It would be great if all of you would enjoy the "Present Arashi"!
