The performance is uneven in good sense,
but with this, this is a live with various high points isn't it.
The overall impression of the album is, how to put it in words... though the keyword is "Happy", ultimately it is not "happy~ happy~". If it is about "Happy", there are many songs that can convey this right!? Indeed the question is "Are You Happy?" And the answer is not just "Happy". There is also answer "Unhappy", so we don't restrict our image and scope, and gather songs of a wide variety of genre in this album. For me, when I listened to it the first time and the second time, the impression was bit different... Really, it's an album with its own taste (giggle). Its amplitude is large, I think we've created an album that listeners will enjoy every time they listen to it.
The "under the supervision" songs ("USV song") responsible by each member are songs we want to make which have not been seen or listened before. What I wanted to do in "Seishun Boogie" was, in my mind... it was pretty well decided at early stage. I had "some sort of image" in my mind. That was the image of live. I got the feeling from the image of Yosakoi dance. And then I added in the "Japan" element, image like tough/kouha... manga like "Sakigake!! Otokojuku" (giggle). I wanted to make a form that has never happened before with these elements and that matches the Yosakoi dance. So, there was an image of large-scale "group dance". Since the past I have been thinking vaguely that doing this would be interesting right? But, well... after all the contents was pretty well striking. Quite... this can't be the single's coupling song right (giggle). Therefore, I have been thinking when I'd have a chance to do it.
From this image, the ideas gradually came up. So, I started with "what shall I do with a song that fits these ideas?", I sang the song, I wanted a catchy thematic melody, I wanted it to be bit nostalgic, I wanted to be aggressive to make it like a folk song... well, various ideas (giggle). So, the intro of the song was catchy right? Catchy intro, then went on to the main melody... thing like this. And then, the lyrics. The lyrics are about no matter how many times one is turned down one should stand up again!... Lyrics like "if pressing doesn't work, press harder!". Indeed, it would be difficult to adopt all the ideas (giggle). In order for various elements not to quarrel with each other, where stood out too much, how not to cause bias, I have done over and over on such balancing work. Therefore, when this song of us five singing... completed, I was happy. The essence I sketched in my mind, the good things, they were all included... really, fully included! (giggle). I was very satisfied of completing it! Though Nino said it was a "weird song" (giggle). Members' singing was also great. Though in "Seishun Boogie" there are lyrics that need be sung quickly... in this area as well, all of the members were very skillful. We five just aligned with each other. This song is that all parts are sung by "all [of us five members]". Normally, a song has parts which two members or three members sing, and has solo parts. This song is sung by us five from start to end. There is basically no such song thus far. I like this very much.
As for my solo song, especially... I thought this time let's not have a character like the previous two solos ("Disco Star", "Mr. FUNK") (giggle), then there is "Amore". Though I thought if "Amore"... was bit too playful? (giggle). Thinking "Phrases like "Amore" "Amigo" became the core of the song... well, isn't it great!" then I decided that the song would be like this. Though I was worried until the very end. There is basically no such title nowadays... and there is basically no such intro starting with English... (giggle). This was as well a bit... a "start" which I preferred. Though there were also various Japanese versions of lyrics, after all English [intro] was interesting, I was obsessed with it. "Eh... What is it? What shall this song start with!?" Well... the song starting with this would be striking (giggle). The song is great... very great, this song. How to put it in words? To make a metaphor... it's like fast food, something that you are not able to taste in high-class restaurant, feeling like that (giggle). The melody is great too. In the melody as well... I have stuffed in various things which I preferred. During live, indeed I think it would be great to have fun in exciting atmosphere together with audience. Rather in the previous two solos, I felt that I was the one who was excited (giggle). Really, I want that the audience would get excited... then I shall get excited, things like that. This is something that I bit rely on others' help to complete (bitter smile). This time indeed, for me it's a song lifted to by every audience! And the audience would gradually get tired too (giggle). Well... so, this is such a song. Rather than just dancing, I want to create a feeling that everyone would have fun.
Well~, I have invested much effort in these two songs (giggle). Not only was there my own solo, I also did direction work for the song sung by us five, though it was difficult, it was interesting. Quite... I haven't been working on (album production) in this way before. I also didn't know at all what other members' USV songs would be like. When we sang the songs and I listened to them, I thought "Ah, so the song is like this!?" Well... The songs are with various characteristics [of the members]. As for the song of Leader, the different vocal parts each member sings are really complicated and difficult. Nino, at the very beginning, decided to separate his song into respective vocal parts... it's something not quite heard before, a song which ARASHI hasn't made thus far. Because Sho-chan is Sho-chan, he made a song with rap verse by verse. I pretty sang it many times. And, MatsuJun's song gives a refreshing feeling! It's like I can sing like as if flowing. Thinking so the songs which members were not engaged in supervision, the bonus track included (in the normal edition)... there are three songs [Ups and Downs, Don't You Get It, TWO TO TANGO]. So... really each member's "colour" is revealed. Perhaps, this is an album with which people who have been watching ARASHI since long time ago and knew very well the core of members would have fun. In particular, who was responsible for which song... though it's fine if you don't know it. But, I think listening to the album after knowing who is responsible for which song would bring more fun.
The live performance this time is planned on the basis that the responsible member of each USV song would be the center of consideration, what would the performance be? In good sense, I think this would be an uneven performance. Everyone is "big" in their respective USV songs. To group these songs with their own characteristics together and make it a live performance is difficult perhaps. With this I think this live is with various high points. It would be great if it's a tour with various "happy" packed in it.
