Trump’s First Year in Office, What is “Russia Gate”?
On 20 January 2018, the US President Trump will assume office for one year.
As usual what he says and does is waving the world, it was reported that on 11 January, during the meeting with the senators, the President insulted various African countries and Haiti by calling them “shithole countries”.
Various countries strongly opposed to this statement.
Then, President Trump denied on his Twitter the next day that “the language used by me was tough, but this was not the language used”.
He claimed that it was “made up by Dems”, the opposite party Democratic Party who were there.
President Trump, currently 71 years old, frequently tweets on Twitter before the media.
The number of times he updated Twitter in this year since his assuming office, including retweets, goes up to more than 2,500 times.
This is calculated as more than seven times of updates per day.
Such twittering President Trump’s Twitter frequently arouses controversy, this month, when doubt was cast on his mental state, he tweeted…
“I went from VERY successful businessman,
to top T.V. Star,
to President of the United States...
a very stable genius at that!”
In response to such speech and behavior, there is also report that there is rising voices from more than 70 famous doctors inside and outside the US asking President Trump for mental examination.
However, at the footsteps of this President, there has been fire continuing to smoulder over this year.
The so-called "Russia-Gate”.
The “Russia-Gate” issue which frequently appears in news.
It is reported that within the next few weeks, there is a possibility of a direct questioning to the President.
The origin of the issue was the United States presidential election of 2016 in which Trump and Clinton competed for the presidency.
During the election period, the US intelligence agency identified that, according to the instruction of Russian President Putin, there was election obstruction using SNS and cyber attacks etc. to help Trump win in the country.
The Russia-Gate is the suspicion that at that time, whether President Trump himself, or his campaign, was in “collusion” with Russia, in other words whether they had “conspired”.
In the US there are laws prohibiting foreigners from involving in the political campaigns of US and asking for involvement, it is pointed out that if President Trump colludes with Russia, he may be breaching those laws.
At the beginning, the investigation on the suspicion was handled by Comey, former Director of FBI, the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
However, President Trump, in May last year, suddenly dismissed Director Comey, he fired him.
This is another suspicion posted on Trump that whether he interrupted the investigation by firing Director Comey, leading to “obstruction of justice”.
President Trump denied the suspicion many time on Twitter by tweeting it as “Witch Hunt” and “Made Up”.
He says
“I can only say this, there was absolutely no collusion (with Russia).”,
“it seems unlikely that you’d even have an interview.”
In November 2018, there will be the “midterm elections” in which President Trump will face the big judgment from the voters for the first time since his assuming office.
Just in case there is new strong evidence, there is also possibility of serious defeat to him, 2018 would be a year which the “Russia-Gate” would still be a point of attention.
