[Call back home, talk to mother]
Narumi: When I was in high school… I said myself that I wanted to go to university?
Mother: Yes, your study was not that bad, teacher also advised you to go to school.
Narumi: Teacher too…
Mother: “I want to be teacher like my father” you said so.
Narumi: I see… Teacher gave me advice… (There was information about paying back scholarship on table. Narumi is bearing debt of 5,700,000 yen for his scholarship.)

[Called meeting, teachers were late]
Narumi: The meeting is from 16:00, all teachers should have known this, right?
Kashiwagi: So I said before, teachers are busy.
Narumi: Even so... can’t be imagined in private company. If people are late they need to report the reasons to their supervisor.
Kashiwagi: Supervisor? No no. No teacher here thinks we are supervisors.
Narumi: Then what do they think we are?
Kashiwagi: If I say this you’ll be angry, Principal.
Narumi: I won’t be angry~ What do they think we are?
Kashiwagi: Just admin staff.

[Meeting about Kase’s scholarship]
Narumi: We’ve a student called Kase-kun? Yesterday Mashiba-sensei advised him about scholarship, right? She said that for families with economic problems, if there is scholarship, they can go studying at university.
Narumi: How is it, as an advice? Because scholarship is actually debt. Students have to pay it back after graduating from university.
Narumi: Keimeikan High School has students applying scholarship and go to university, every year. Last year there were eight students, the year before last year there were five students. Do everyone understand thoroughly before they apply? Scholarship is debt which they start paying back right after university graduation.

Teacher: Principal, from this year the benefit scholarship policy begins.
Narumi: Right, from this year. The conditions for recommendation are “being in an inhabitant tax-exempt household”, “receiving public assistance”, “in need of social care”. Probably Kase-kun’s family is out of these conditions.
(Teachers responded rudely)
Teacher: We know such things.
Narumi: But students probably don’t know. We have to explain this properly to them. What scholarship is, I think they don’t have real feeling about it, they are just kids of 17, 18 years old.
(Teachers responded rudely)

Narumi: But I think teacher’s work is not just to teach students to study. When the students go to the society in the future, the structures and rules of the society, I think we have to teach them these things.

Narumi: In my opinion teachers are too loose! There is no corporate which doesn’t mind and forgives company staff to be late in meeting. I came to rebuild Keimeikan High School. Because Keimeikan High School is an affiliate of Kashimatsu Bussan it can’t be an unprofitable department. There is no exception for education business. As soon as possible it should become positive balance, the operation has to become stable. If it can’t be done, Kashimatsu Bussan will abandon Keimeikan High School. Maybe to sell it to elsewhere, maybe to close the school, it may become like this. I hope everyone would have more sense of crisis.
Kashiwagi: I agree with you.
Narumi: But, I understood that it’s not easy to improve the operation of this school. This can’t be done by just cutting operation costs. Therefore we have to change the school and the students. In order to do this first of all, teachers should change. The biggest issue now is teachers.
Teacher: What do you mean by this?
Narumi: Please change your understanding towards students. Teachers get tuition fees from students. And then your job is to cultivate good students for this society. To teachers, students are both clients and commodities.

Teacher: It is the parents who pay the tuition fees.
Narumi: The parents of students are shareholders.
Kashiwagi: Shareholders?
Narumi: Because of this, we have to hold responsibilities towards our clients and our commodities and our shareholders. This is no difference from common corporates!
Mashiba: School is not business, right?
Narumi: It’s business, isn’t it for sure?! (Hit table) In the first place do everyone misunderstand something? You are not civil servants, you are teachers of private school. Even restructuring is possible.
Kashiwagi: Principal, please...
(Teachers refuted rudely, then challenged Narumi that he did all things for himself but not for school, then walked out of meeting room, Narumi wanted to discuss further)
Narumi: No! Such work allocation is too weird.
Kashiwagi: Principal, please stop this.

[Kase talked to Narumi]
Kase: Did you have argument about scholarship? About my thing.
Narumi: (Shook his head) I went to university because of scholarship. When I was in junior high school my father passed away and my family had no money. Though I graduated from university with help of scholarship, when I started working I had a concrete feeling that scholarship was actually debt. Well though I entered a fairly good company at first the salary was not that much. It was pretty tough to pull nearly 30,000 yen from it to pay back debt.
Kase: 30,000...
Narumi: I’m still paying it back. Including interest, the amount is nearly 6,000,000 yen. It’ll take me ten more years to pay all.
Kase: Really!?
Narumi: But I didn’t remember being told such thing. Probably teacher in high school might have said it, “Scholarship will become burden, you reallly have to consider it” they definitely didn’t say in such way.
Though for the time being I can pay it back, I think there are many people who would think it tough. People who graduated from university but their companies went bankrupt. People who pay back scholarship so become unable to save money and have to give up getting married.
But Kase-kun. I hope you don’t give up studying at university. I hope you’d go to university.
Kase: But scholarship...
Narumi: It’s a tough debt. Therefore you should study hard even you enter university. Get all the credits, even you go to play, as much as possible make it an experience which you can apply in work, straight get graduated in four years, and then get a firm job.
Even so, we don’t know what would happen in this society in the future. First-class corporates may go bankrupt, our society is having declining birthrate and ageing population on and on, the global situation is having tremendous change. Many works may be replaced by robots. Such future may be awaiting. Therefore the skills necessary for survival, skills, you know? “You are irreplaceable” in order to be said like this, you have to acquire strength which are necessary to others.
If you now have such determination, let’s get the scholarship and go to university.
Kase: Principal.
Narumi: Um.
Kase: I didn’t want to hear this. (BGM stopped)
Narumi: Eh?
Kase: I didn’t want to hear such scary thing! How can I make decision now, such thing!
Narumi: No, but now...
Kase: I can’t!
Narumi: Sigh...
Mashiba: So I said. They are high school students, telling him the reality doesn’t necessarily mean better.
Narumi: Eh? Sigh… (Fell on floor) What’s it about!?

Thank you soooo much for translating this!!!

I've been watching this subbed version.
I might be biased, but so far I think it's really ideal high school drama.
the theme is really, make me remember my high school time.
We are big enough but not mature enough, as we need adult to guide us through it. So I think it must be nice if there is someone like Narumi.
As for more deep issue such as "digiman" about the consequences of our act.
