18.07.31 Oricon - ARASHI 51st single top chart, updates record history

ARASHI’s latest single “Natsu Hayate” (released 25 Jul) sold 471,000 copies in the first week, and tops the Oricon 8/6 weekly single ranking (record period: 23 Jul ~ 29 Jul) with its first on-chart. This is the 51st single since debut song “A・RA・SHI” (released N

ov 1999) which tops the single chart, and updated the “total No.1 obtained in history” with the former single “Find The Answer” (released 21 Feb) reaching the No.1 in history. In addition, as for the “single - consecutively No.1 obtained”, ARASHI got 44 consecutive single No.1 since “PIKA★★NCHI DOUBLE” (released Feb 2004).

Natsu Hayate is the “ABC Summer High School Baseball Cheering Song” cheering “100th National High School Baseball Championship” in its 100th anniversary this year, and the theme song of high school baseball digest programme “Netto Koshien” (Asahi TV). Yuzu’s Kitagawa Yujin-san writes the music and lyrics of the song, just like the title symbolising “wind blowing through the dazzling summer”, one feels the freshness and glare of summer through the sound, it is a cheering song which gives courage to people who are living devotedly.

There are two version of music videos, one is with the storyline that Ohno Satoshi-san as cleaner, Sakurai Sho-san as janitor Aiba Masaki-san as consultant of orchestral band, Ninomiya Kazunari-san as science teacher, Matsumoto Jun-san as guard warming watching over the romance and school life of the students; another version “High School Students Collaboration ver.” in the High School Baseball CD (Limited Edition) is the music video made with 85 high school students.

In addition, ARASHI is entering 20th anniversary from 3 Nov this year. From 16 Nov, they will have the “ARASHI ANNIVERSARY LIVE TOUR” at five domes, which is their 10th total and 7th consecutive five-dome tours.
