– What is “Happy” to you?
The moments I feel fortunate, actually there are lots of such moments. When I chose this photo what I thought about was, going to Rio (Olympics), though it was very tough… indeed doing news coverage is enjoyable. Well… so, to me fortune is that I can go to various places and meet various people. Because… were I working in a common company, I wouldn’t go to Oita all of a sudden. Working at Rio [Olympics], indeed… basically I wouldn’t [have chance to do it]. And riding a helicopter in Hawaii would definitely not happen. Things that are extraordinary to many people are common things to me. To perform these works makes me feel fortunate.
Sho’s Happy Shot
1. Precious!: This is a photo I took during my news coverage at Rio Olympics. I moved from one venue to another, and I took this photo in-between. I held a file and looked like a reporter isn’t it (giggle). Though I only stayed for three days, it was a period of time with enriched [experience]. From Beijing Olympics onwards, it was my fifth time doing news coverage for Olympics including the Winter Games Olympics. Such photos are added into my collection every two years. This is precisely the moment that “I’m happy”, the moments that I am busy at work at various places. I am fortunate when I can do as much news coverage as I can.
2. Tastes good: This is super delicious isn’t it? So what is it?… This was when I went to Oita Prefecture. Yes, privately (giggle). One of my juniors is at Oita and kept saying “Sho-san, please come to Oita!”. And then I had one day, or half day, free time so I was like “Let’s go there!”. This photo was taken when I went to a chicken cuisine restaurant there. Oita Prefecture is great. Because, if I spent my free day in Tokyo it was like having dinner nearby, going home midnight, and getting up afternoon the next day, nothing special right? But I spent my day in Oita, had dinner there, and went to Yufuin. I got up early and went to bath… it was fun.
3. Aloha: I wondered in private time have ARASHI taken photos, so I searched for it. There was no photo of five people. Surprisingly there was no photo of five people taken together. Because I was one of the five people (giggle) [because Sho-san was the one who took photo so was not in the screen]. There was pretty much no photo of us five. And, this photo… was taken by MatsuJun? I didn’t take photo though, this photo was great. It was taken during “ARASHI BLAST in Hawaii” i.e. 2014 September. During rehearsal of the opening which we appeared in helicopter. The feeling of the lightness was great isn’t it? Only we five people, and then the pilot… this is a super private photo.
