17.04.17 A word on Kizoku Tantei Ep.1 [Spoiler alert]
May I share my own personal feeling and interpretation on my two favourite scenes in ep.1.
When Takatoku said that Kizoku Tantei’s servants helped him on murder, Gozen’s face turned very serious. I felt that he was very unhappy, if not angry. All along he spoke with very soft tone and with very gentleman manner but after his servants were accused he laughed teasingly and talked to Yamamoto “I was having expectation but unfortunately, it seems that this tantei is just second-class” with a bit hard tone.
At the end of the episode when Takatoku said to Gozen that she didn’t forgive Kizoku Tantei claiming himself as tantei but didn’t do deduction, Gozen said teasingly “Then, what is tantei? A person who cannot solve mystery, is not tantei nei~” and he turned his (teasingly) smiling face to a serious one and left.
I like the acting in these two scenes very much.
I am reading the second novel of the Kizoku Tantei series, Gozen in the original novels, as to me, is with much dignity and elegance but is not obsessed with win or lose. Watching these two scenes, my interpretation is, he was irritated by his servants being insulted.
May I also share a little episode in a story in the novel. A person asked Gozen when he would use his own brilliant brain to solve mystery. Gozen answered “I have been using my brain. Do you understand? My brain is these three people here. They are my possession, so it’s fine to let them do the trivial things such as deduction for me.” Then the person prompted “Then, among them who is the most brilliant?” And Gozen replied softly and gently, “It’s a stupid question. I have no intention to trigger a Troy War. What do you think about this?”
When I read these lines what I felt was that Kizoku Tantei likes his servants and trusts them a lot. In other episodes the servants also expressed absolute respect and trust to Gozen. I felt strong kizuna between them.
